Here at Mac Ivors Cider we are in the middle of the busiest season – Apple Harvest. Armagh is buzzing with activity as we get all the apples picked. We always have plenty of work to do here, with 110 acres of orchards to be hand picked and stored. A gorgeous time of the year too with all the vibrant colours of the ripened apples!

Celebrating the apple harvest in the Orchard County, our neighbours at the National Trust Ardress House are going to be entertaining families for “Apple Picking Sundays” starting this Sunday 2nd October and running until 16th. Cider tastings, homemade apple pancakes, orchard tours, apple picking and you can have a go on the apple press! The perfect family day out!
Ardress House
We have always had a special relationship with the National Trust, given our close proximity to Ardress House, and of course, the surrounding orchards. Ardress House was originally built in the early 1700s for Thomas Clarke. In the 1780s, it was enlarged and remodelled by the architect George Ensor, and then remodelled again in the early 19th century by Ensor’s son. It was given to the National Trust by the Ulster Land Trust in 1959 and now houses a fine collection of 18th century Dutch, Flemish and Italian paintings. The house also has good pieces of early Irish furniture including a magnificent mahogany side table.
Ardress House is situated right across the road from our farm, making the ciders as local as could be. A fantastic day to try our delicious ciders – Dry Cider made from cider apples and Bramley; Medium cider with more sweet eating apples; Plum & Ginger Cider with a lovely spicy finish and our Alcohol Free Cider.
