Harvest Season 2021
Harvest season has arrived in the Orchard County Armagh. Although we lament the end of summer, the work is just beginning now here in Armagh. Our main apple harvest will begin next week, and with over 40,000 apple trees to be picked it’s no easy task. The apples are looking good despite a few late frosts earlier in the year. The resilient Armagh Bramley apple has powered through as always. Check out Sarah’s little video here last week in the orchards:

Armagh Food and Cider Festival
Another thing to look forward to is the Armagh Food and Cider Festival which kicks off this Thursday. Celebrating all things Armagh – apples, harvest, great ciders, delicious food and plenty of craic! How we have longed for the return of festivals, and we couldn’t be happier to be getting back into the swing of things here at home in Armagh.
You can check out the programme of events here, there really is something for everyone.

We will be serving tasty, local ciders all day on Saturday at the Urban Orchard Market in the Shambles Yard in Armagh. The event takes place from 10.00am – 8.00pm and in line with Covid 19 safety measures, pre-booking is required, including children. Admission is free. The outdoor Orchard Bar offers amazing live music while you explore the artisan market. There will be amazing things to do so plan to spend some time to eat and drink your fill.
There will also be talks throughout the day at the market. Admission is free, but a ticket must be obtained in advance from the Shamble Yard Information Point.
- 30pm – 3.30pm – Gabe Cook, The Ciderologist – Learn more about cider!
- 15pm – 6.15pm – Cider Talks and Tasting with our Ciderologists Gabe Cook and Bill Bradshaw. Two Ciderologists compare ciders on sale at the market
Sarah might be scooting off early to Croke Park to see a certain football game……but Greg will be manning the bar and pouring delicious pints to taste and to take home so be sure to pop over and say hello.
We look forward to seeing you, if not this weekend then hopefully soon!! Keep an eye on our socials @macivorscider for videos and updates on our 2021 Apple Harvest season!
